Air Resource Board
On behalf of the membership of the
California Service Station and Automotive Repair
Association, I am perplexed at the ambiguity and
vacillation on ARB position on the hold open clips as
they relate to the VST nozzle dilemma. This
indecisiveness has put CSSARA members in a untenable
predicament. CSSARA members are
vulnerable for customer safety, liability claims, and
loss of business. After all, CSSARA
members only did what they were told after ARB approved
the VST nozzle.
It is imperative that your guidance
on this situation protect our service station members,
as well as their customers. After
all, our members are on the frontlines.
They will need to defend your decision. This
nozzle was approved by ARB and now the people that
purchased this item on your endorsement are left
hanging. They are losing customers
because of this clip on/clip off situation.
CSSARA members need a safe
alternative solution and in which direction the ARB is
leading our industry. It is ARB’s
responsibility to protect a) the consumer b) the
business owner and, c) the environment against this
hazardous situation.
CSSARA will do its’ best to support
our customers, and members in implementing your course
of action.
Sincerely,
Sunny
